The Thornton Community Band was organized in 2008, and rapidly developed into a respected symphonic band of 85 members. The membership includes many diverse interests and occupations, including teachers, accountants, computer programmers, mechanics, business owners, and retirees. Ages range from 18 to 80, with each member sharing their love of producing beautiful music with others. The VFW Band of Colorado band is the oldest organized ensemble of its kind in the state, founded in 1888 as Geo. W. Cook's Drum Corp. In 1931, as the number of Civil War veterans dwindled, the Veterans of Foreign Wars sought our services and the name was changed to Cooks V.F.W. Band and Drum Corps. The Original Cowboy Band

The Original Cow Boy Band is a 2005 reincarnation of a concert band that was formed in 1879 in Dodge City, Kansas, whose purpose at the time was to play for stockmen's conventions. In 1890 the band moved to Silverton, Colorado, followed by Ouray in 1902, Pueblo in 1903, and ending up in Idaho Springs, Colorado, in 1905.
